Licensing

What you need to know as a student who will soon need to be licensed in Arizona...

There are three levels of Licensure
  • LBSW -- Licensed Bachelor Social Worker
  • LMSW -- Licensed Master Social Worker
  • LCSW -- Licensed Clinical Social Worker

About Licensure

Social Workers in the state of Arizona are regulated by the Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (BBHE).

The Arizona licensure law is a "practice act" that restricts the practice of psychotherapy to behavioral health professionals licensed at the highest level.

In the case of social work, the highest level is LCSW.
